I can see that kind of promotion giving these types of fundraising activities a bad name. I've seen authors and musicians raise $$$ through Kickstarter campaigns that they probably couldn't have in more 'traditional' ways. Not everyone has a wealthy relative willing to back them, and whoever responded that there are better causes to support/donate to is so arbitrary. Of course you're not curing cancer, you're an <i>author</i> and no one is obligated to help you publish your book. But to demean your attempt is uncalled for IMO.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
