Rollercoaster Ride

Yes, this is my life at the moment.  Ups and downs, constantly going, sometimes upside down, topsy turvy.  So, as you know, the Class of 2k11 has officially launched.  This is a wonderful group of YA and MG writers all slated for a 2011 release.  We're going to be giving away prizes and getting together for some in person events.

I've turned in my revisions to my editor, now it goes to editorial and marketing and I may be seeing a book cover soon.  Maybe.  Or not.  We're hoping for ARC's in spring.  So, everything is still a ways off.

I will have my own website soon.  meganbosticbooks.com. (remember when I blogged that someone already had my name >:( ) It's being created as we speak.  So look for more news on that later.

Also going into the book trailer business if anyone is interested.  I did one for my friend Gae, which can be seen on my Facebook page.  So if you know any authors interested in this service, give them my name.  :)

And I've started a new novel, titled, Taking Zoey.  I got stuck on Withered, so I put it aside.  I will write it, I just needed something to get me going, and this new novel is doing that.

So that's what I've got going on at the moment.  What have you been up to?

It's Launch Time, Baby!!!

That's right.  The Class of 2K11 has officially launched.  If you don't know about the 2k classes, they've  been around since 2007.  The author of one of my favorite YA books, Jay Asher was a 2ker.  We are a group of debut Young Adult and Middle Grade writers using synergy to help each other promote our books and ideas.

Our website is full of information about our group, our books.  We'll be blogging weekly.  You can find out how to book us for in person or Skype visits, AND you can join our street team.

Oh, I almost forgot, we're hosting some AWESOME contests.  The first one is HUGE!!!  You like winning, right?  And prizes?  Then you should definitely visit our site.

I'm giddy with excitement.  Can you tell?

NoNoWriMo

I have 2327 words.  Yep, that's it.  I should have well over 13,000.  I am so far behind in NaNoWriMo I don't know if I can catch up.  This week has been one of the craziest in my life.  In some ways, I make my own craziness, but some things were beyond my control.

I'm going to try like hell to have a quiet week this week.  A week of working really hard to stay away from Facebook (yikes).  A week of maybe letting the house go in favor of writing.  A week of not answering calls.

Obviously, there are things that can't be pushed aside.  If my kids need me, I'm there.  I have to go to work.  I need to eat I suppose though I could stand to lose a few pounds.  And email.  If I let my email go unchecked for even a day I'd come back to over 100 messages.  No I am not exaggerating.

Okay, well enough about that.  I am excited about one thing going on this week.  The official launch of The Class of 2k11.  You may have seen me post about it before, you may have seen our group on Facebook.  Our website launches 11-11-10.  If you haven't heard of the 2k classes, they've been around since 2007.  A bunch of debut YA and MG writers using synergy to promote our books, ideas, and reading.  We've been working together for months to come up with ideas to get readers, bloggers, and gatekeepers involved in our campaign.

I will give you more information on launch day.  It's going to be a fun year.

Okay, back to the writing.  Have a great day.

Ciao,

Megan

It's Blogapalooza!

A chance for you to meet some exciting new writers AND score some great prizes (I only chose one if them, so disclaimer: I'm solely responsible for the knee socks, nothing more). All you have to do is read my post, (which will follow below, because I was not organized enough to post this yesterday and a new one today) and then visit the 7 bloggers below *points down* and read their entries, and try to find the common phrase used in all eight. NOTE: It WILL be a phrase, so single words like "the" or "and" don't count! Once you think you have it, email it to mikewood_3@yahoo.com and you will be put into the running for a great gift "basket" comprised of prizes personally selected by the eight bloggers. A random drawing from all correct entries will be conducted one week from today, with special preference given to those who choose to follow all eight of us!"

Bad Boys Can Be Fun

Be careful, we might try to trick you.

This whole contest thing is new to me.  I’ve thought about it, but really, what do readers want to win? The idea that they didn’t want to win a bunch of crap, plus the fact that I was under deadline, soccer season is in full swing, I hadn’t even been blogging on a regular basis, my involvement in the Class of 2K11  takes up a lot of my time, aside from work, driving me kids around, cooking, cleaning, etc.  I told my friend Mike, whose idea this was, absolutely positively not.  My friend Gae, who I’m sure you all know by now also said no.  He said Gae was off the hook, but I had to participate.  When I asked why he said, “because Gae scares me.”  How do you like them apples?  Eventually I was okay with it, really.  I just had to post a blog, using a choice phrase, plus, I knew the prize I was giving was tres cool.

So, since this whole contest idea started, I have finished my revisions, one soccer season has ended (the school season for one child, both girls are still playing outside school), but I’m pretty much still doing everything else up there.  *points up, cringing and yawning* But I still had to get this post off for the contest.  So even though there’s not much rhyme or reason to it, here I am blogging about the contest.

But right now, I really must go.  I have to get my kids, try and write some nanowrimo stuff, and I’m going to a wine tasting party tonight.  Haven’t even thought about what to cook for dinner.  What do you think?  Yellowtail tuna, red herring, blue cheese burger, or maybe just a green salad?

Ciao,

Megan

PS, don’t forget to vote for my video.  Only six days left.

OMG!!!

I haven't blogged in a while once again. So thought I'd update.  Still working, going to soccer stuff continuously, that is pretty much my life right now.

I did send my second set of rewrites to my editor and she said, "This is really good, very powerful. I think you’ve done it, finished the story."  which had me floating for days.  Probably until yesterday...

...when I killed a cat.

It darted out of no where and ran right up under my car.  I cried and cried and cried, and I'm just trying to stay distracted so I can stop thinking about it and move on with my life....

...which bring me to being a day behind on NaNoWriMo already.  Yes, I'm doing Nano again, I have done it the last two years, completed and Never Eighteen was one of them.

...and speaking of Never Eighteen...

The video contest is still going on.  Click here to view my video trailer of Never Eighteen that I created for the contest.  I'm getting a lot of good feedback on it.  I don't have the most votes, but last time I checked I had 136 which is up there.  It appears you can vote sporadically.  Some have been able to vote once a day, some more than once a day.  I have only been able to vote about once every two days.  I could win a Mac, a video camera, or a trip to Sundance!!!

My friend Erica is doing an author series on her blog this month, check her out here.  I'll be one of the showcased authors at some point.

One last thing.  I'm doing a contest on my blog, which I never do but my friend Mike wouldn't take no for an answer, so tomorrow look here for instruction and a crazy blog from me about nothing.

Wow, I'm a bit long winded today.

Have a great one.

Ciao,

Megan
