F³A: The first author event

Yes, so tonight is my first author event and I'm scared out of my wits.  I'm doing a five minute reading and bringing a bunch of swag.  Wish me luck I don't mess up or puke or something.

I'm also thinking about running my first giveaway.  What does everyone like to get? Arcs, marked up arcs? Never Eighteen swag? Skype visit? Um, other crap? Let me know. 

(The pic of Aaron Johnson is just because I had no picture to post and I want him to play Austin in the move version of Never Eighteen, if that ever were to happen)

I think that's all I have today, except for the Nibbles of course:

Random iPod shuffle song: Story of My Life by Social Distortion.  Love it.

Book of the week:  Still OyMG by Amy Fellner Dominy.  I will read this weekend.  I just haven't had the time!!!

Netflix of the week: Monk.  I'm loving it.

    Good luck with the read! I'd find that nerve wracking, too. Practice out loud--maybe even record yourself introducing the piece--the read shouldn't be hard, but the free talk portion would scare me... then again, you do your videos, so I'm sure you'll rock.

    As for what I want to win... (signed) ARC....

    yep, megan, the key to quelling the nerves is to practice. And to know what you want to intro with (though allowing it to be fluid too, depending on the audience). I often read a new section into my webcam then play it back and see how it works for me. Where I'm reading too fast. Where it drags on. It often surprises me how fast I'm reading when I think I'm reading slow. And you've talked into a camera plenty. AND You have tons of charisma! You'll be great!

    I think marked up ARCs are a great idea. You know, even though you're probably already there and I'm just reading this now. Hope you have/had a great time!
