This may not seem like a big deal to some of you, but it was for me. It took me three schools, five jobs, one baby, and ten years to complete. Let me give you a run down.
1987 attended University of Portland majoring in communications, with aspirations of being a journalist.
Partied too much, decided I just didn't know what I wanted to do, came home, worked as a Deli clerk in a grocery store.
1988 went to Tacoma Community College for one quarter. Was not dedicated at all, received the worst grade point average I had ever gotten.
1989 went back to the University of Portland, more serious this time, majored in business, wanted to own my own business. Couldn't cut the math. Didn't know what I was thinking.
Timeline is sketchy, I worked in a video store, jewelry store, and govt. office, for the next few years. All at the same time for part of it. No school.
Eventually quit the video store and the jewelry store and went to work full time for the Pierce County Auditors Office.
Went to night school at University of WA-Tacoma, a liberal arts school, taking two classes a quarter which was difficult because I had health and emotional problems at the time.
Married in 1994.
1995 I realized I hated my job. Took a year long leave of absence to finish school.
Got pregnant. Worked in my dad's law office while attending school.
Finally walked down the aisle, eight months pregnant and received my diploma, however, I had three classes to finish up, which I did from home after the baby was born. Never went back to the Auditor's Office.
A rocky road for sure, a degree as one of my boss' called is as useful as tits on a bull, but it's mine. I earned it.
If I could do it all over again, I don't know if I would change anything. Things that happened during that time helped shape who I am today. If I had gone all four years straight I might be in a different place, married to a different man, and had his kids instead of the ones I have. Deep, huh? ;)
So that's it, the top four BEST experiences from school. Tomorrow's a free for all. Catch you on the flip side.
Kisses
:*

Petition to God
I'm going to petition God to add five extra hours to my days. I cannot possibly get everything done in the 16 or 17 waking hours. This is my day, not necessarily in this order, but close.
1. Wake up, usually five or six am.
2. Drink coffee while playing on the computer for one to two hours catching up on two e-mail accounts, checking profiles on Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, Amazon, adding friends, adding music, update status, playing Mafia Wars (don't judge me, I'm a level 171 Master Underboss), checking blog for comments.
3. Get kids to school
4. Eat breakfast
5. Excercise
6. Shower, dress
7. Go to Starbucks
8. Query
9. Blog
10. Write
11. Film a review
12. Edit video, and create review
13. Post review
14. Eat lunch
15. Grocery shop
16. Check computer again for e-mails, Facebook
17. Plan and start dinner
18. Pick up kids from school, while waiting, read another entry to review
19. Continue to cook dinner while helping kids with homework (unless it's math, I don't do math)
20. Eat dinner
21. Hang out with husband on computer (computers play an important role in my life, obviously, maybe too big a role, is there a pill for that?)
22. Watch movie or tv with the family.
23. Collapse
So you see God, would it kill you to give me an extra five hours a day? With all I do, it would be nice to have time to take a bath, or a nap, or sit out in the sun and relax. It's not too much to ask, is it?
I recommend all of you to join me in this. Maybe if we get enough people to petition, God will come through. I mean, really, what would you do with five extra hours a day?

Writing: Life's Laughing Gas
So, I'm at the dentist the other day for my annual cleaning. I've got the gas mask on and I'm drifting out to lala land. If you wonder why I need nitris for a simple cleaning, I will tell you, I absolutely love my dentist, but hate dental work, all of it. My mouth is very sensitive, and I have a very low tolerance for pain.
I love nitris oxide. That slow ease into semi-consciousness. Your mind drifting to places and ideas that it never would otherwise. Forgetting every stress, every problem, every tragedy in your life, if only for an hour.
So as I lay there, drifting, floating, forgetting, I realize that this nitris, this laughing gas, is not unlike writing for me. When I write, I travel outside my body, I dream, I forget, I escape. I feel a kind of peace that can maybe be equated to meditating, sitting down with a drink after a long, hard day at work, or watching your child sleep.
And only when I'm done for the day, and I can't seem to write another word, am I eased back in to life, to its bills, and its phone calls, its conflicts, and all its stresses.
So, there it is, writing is my laughing gas, and as I cannot take dental work without the nitris, I can not take life without the writing.
