20 random thoughts

Random thoughts. I'm reliving conversations from last night, pondering things I've
seen browsing on Twitter and Tumblr this morning, thinking about the weekend. Granted, some of them you won't understand, just my personal inside musings.

  1. I'm starting resolutions before next year. I'm joining a gym Monday. I really need to make these changes.
  2. There had to be a taser, a billy club...some other option.
  3. Richard Sherman is funny and a class act. People don't like him because he's the best and he's loud. Well, people outside Washington. And maybe Oregon and Idaho. Maybe Montana.
  4. I'm all about women's rights, but I don't think we need to trash men to get them. We're trying to be equal, right, not superior?
  5. People that go shopping today are CRAY!
  6.  Some of these people on the Tumblr, I really don't want to see their shit.
  7. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed Facebook until I left it.
  8. Peeta and RePeeta were in a boat...
  9. Speaking of...someone told me he thought Mockingjay was boring. I asked where they left off and he said basically they just got Peeta back (who up to this point he thought was named Peter hahaha). And I was like O.o I could see that being boring because NOTHING REALLY HAPPENS until then.
  10. I need to remind my daughter for the millionth time that I am a POOR SINGLE MOM WHO CAN NOT AFFORD TO FEED ALL HER FRIENDS!
  11. I need to buy more Christmas lights.
  12. I hope the tattoo artist can get my design right.
  13. I can't wait to get on the road and get the fuck out of here.
  14. My dreams need to stop toying with me. It's hard to dream about someone you love then wake up realizing they're not a part of your life anymore.
  15. Always ask someone if they want some pie before you eat the whole thing. Even if you were told to take it home and eat the whole thing.
  16. Do I really need to Tumblr when I Blogger?
  17. THERE IS ONLY ONE FUCKING PIE AND IT'S BANANA CREAM!
  18. NaNoWriMo - okay, so I may not finish, but I got a lot accomplished, which is more than I can say for the last two years.
  19. There are 4 kinds of people in your life:
    1. the ones who give, never expecting anything in return
    2. the ones in which you have a give and take relationship and that's okay
    3. the ones that take and never give
    4. and the ones you just want to punch in the face
  20. My dad is awesome.

Wins and losses

You know what I'm going to talk about first. That's right, my Hawks. My dad has had season tickets since the beginning, 1976. I've been going to games since he deemed me old enough, probably since I was about 10 or eleven. I've never been a fair weather fan. I've always been die hard.

When they opened the new field, I bought my own season tickets. Kept them 3 years, I was there when they won the 2005 NFC championship game against the Panthers, but a single income household just couldn't keep up with the rising ticket prices.

It was so exciting to see the Hawks get back to the big game again. I had the Super Bowl score pegged at somewhere around 26-24. Never in my wild imagination did I think the Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense were going to fall apart like that. Never.

The Legion of Boom brought it. A sack, fumble recoveries, interceptions, one of those for a touchdown. There was Percy Harvin's kickoff run for a touch down, and the offense was on fire, especially Kearse and Baldwin. Ouch.

We were sitting around contemplating who they would choose for MVP and really were baffled. That's the thing about the Seahawks. They truly are a team and last night they all did their part to win. I thought maybe Avril, Kearse...but Smith with his interception for a touchdown and fumble recovery was very deserving.

I loved how when they interviewed the players after the game they all thanked the 12th man for being part of the reason they were there. Other fans may hate us, but we are loyal and passionate about our team.

I think this may be the beginning of a dynasty. It's a very young team with a lot of heart and talent. There are only a couple of free agents this year, the rest stay. I hope to see them get back to the show in the next few years.

Go Hawks!!

Of course a dark cloud cast a shadow over the day. That was the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman. I remember him way back when from Scent of a Woman in 1992. He has done so many great films since then. He was so diverse an actor, he could play anything, intense, funny, creepy, manipulative, a total douchebag...Truly, I think he was one of the greatest actors of our time.

How sad that his stellar career wasn't enough for him to be happy in life and made him turn to heroin to escape whatever demons he faced. I've heard heroin is one of the hardest drugs to kick. It sounded like he'd been clean for a couple decades before going back to the drug.

How terribbly depressed do you have to be to leave behind that kind of career and three children?

It was a great day in Seattle, but a Sad day in the movie world yesterday.

30 days of thanks: day 19

This is one of those days in which I'm finding it hard to be thankful. I've been sleeping like crap. My nose has been stuffed up for days and my mood has been up and down due to many factors in my life.

But, I've been determined to always find something to be thankful for, every day.

Hot wings may be at the top of my list today. Too shallow?

Okay, well, you may think this is shallow too, but I'm going for it anyway...

My Seattle Seahawks. Yep, I went there.

I've been a football fan since I was about 10. My dad has had season tickets since the very first year the Seahawks have been a team. I believe that was 1976. He would take to me at least one game a year.

As I got older, I got more into football and I didn't care if they won or lost, I love my Hawks. I started to go to more games. As many as I could. Whenever he had extra tickets I would say, "Me, me!!"

Eventually, my dad ended up giving his tickets to his law office and if the Hawks were good, I didn't really get to go, but if they had a bad season, me and my husband (this was when I was married of course) ended up going to at least 3 or 4 games a year.

When Hasselbeck came on board, they started getting good again, and the Kingdome came down and Qwest Field went up and we decided to buy our own season tickets.

We were there when the won the NFC Championship. That was exciting!!

Tickets got too expensive, so we gave them up. Then of course I got divorced. Now I'm back to only going to one game a year.

Now we have a good team again and it's been exciting to watch players like Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch on the field.  10-1!! I truly think we are Superbowl bound this year. If not, at least we had a great season.

Monkey Madness Monday

Yep Monkey Madness Monday.  I don't have much for you today.  Had a busy weekend.  A long walk in the rain, two soccer games (one on an island so there were two ferry rides involved making it an all day event).  Not a good weekend for area sports.  Both girl's teams lost and my Hawks *shakes head*.

Teachers are still on strike.  We're going to feel it at the end of the year.  Which as my older daughter says doesn't matter because the weather doesn't even get nice until July.

And I believe Fall is officially upon us, even though the temperature seems to be having hot flashes.  It was really humid here yesterday.  That mixed  with my own hot flashes doesn't bode well.

I didn't do my housecleaning like I wanted over the weekend.  Too much going on plus I've just been so tired.  And there's so much to do and the weather caught up with me.  A shed still needs to be built, a pool drained, There's a badminton set getting soaked and I'm afraid to move it because I'm sure there's a family of earwigs living under it now. sigh.

I need a vacation.  Maybe a weekend of solitude at the beach again.

Happy Monday all.

Manic Monday

Yes, new ideas to keep me blogging.  So today is Manic Monday where I basically get to rant about all the wrong in the world.

I expected to be writing about holiday travel, since I came back home from a weekend at the ocean, but honestly, it wasn't that bad except for the two or three drivers, who drove right next to each other, at a pace I can only compare to watching grass grow.  They held up traffic for miles.  And I had to speed up, slow down, change lanes, jockey for position to get around them.  This took 1 1/2 hours.  Once I got past them the last half hour was smooth sailing.

And how about them Seahawks, huh?  Nothing like being the king of the losers.  We're going to be in the play offs and get our asses kicked by the wild card team.  That will be a sad, sad day in Seattle.

My girls and I tried to find a Christmas movie to watch on TV last night.  We found two and they were boring and lame.  What happened to the day when the Christmas movies were funny and fun and original and made of clay?  Now they're all heartwarming and cheesy.  We ended up putting Edward Scissorhands in the DVD player.  Yes it IS a Christmas movie.

Well, that's my first Manic Monday.  And I didn't think I had anything to write about.  Come back tomorrow for 2fer Tuesday. (anyone want to blog with me tomorrow?)

Catch you on the flip side,

Megan
