41 cont.

One of my other goals for this year is to write. Yes, I know I already write, I mean write more. Try to avoid the distraction that keep me from writing (can you say facebook?)

I think we improve with every word written.

That's it. Short and sweet for today.

Kisses.

  2. Stop writing! E-mail my publisher something. Anything. Then go write. Or, Burger King, KFC, McDonald's, Taco Bell, yum yum. Everyone knoew fast food helps writing.

  3. Not ready to email publishers right now, have other stuff going on. And I don't eat fast food. But I will have some more coffee. :)

  4. I find what helps for me is to faithfully write for 15 minutes at night {any fixed time will do.} Night, right before I would read or facebook, works for me. Just 15 minutes I tell myself. And so I read what I had written the night before, go over in my head the notes{mental or written} I have made in the course of the day, and then I write.

A Lakota elder once told me, "You find time to do what you hold important. If you find yourself not doing it, you really do not find it important."

I tell myself, "Roland, you can twitter, myspace, facebook, watch TV, or you can be a writer. Which will it be?" So far I've chosen writer.

About drinking more water, you might try having a bottle of water by your bed when you awaken. You will find it easier to drink at least half of it upon awakening. Maybe even the whole bottle.

Hey, if I'm so smart, how come I'm not published yet?

If you're of a mind, come check out my blog, WRITING IN THE CROSSHAIRS. As a courtesy only, I'm providing a link to it :

Have a happy, productive day, Roland

  5. Oh, and I almost forgot. Happy Earth Day! I went out at the crackle of dawn to the back 40 and planted about a hundred or so fir seedlings. Actually, they were a gift, so I had to plant them soon.

Does that sound like a lot of digging? No problem! One mole hole, one seedling. I'm always messing with those moles anyway. My wife won't let me play with gasoline down the mole holes any more, and my handsome eyebrows have grown back nicely, so I find other ways to mess with the moles.

I used to mess with the squirrels, but they're on the W.P.L. (Wife Pretected List) along with the raccoons that steal the catfood from our porch (and sometimes the cat).

Squirrels are just rats with better Public Relations. I think they even blog and lobby Congress.

  6. Thanks Roland. You make some really good points. I try and write M-F no matter what. Even if it's just a little. Weekends are normally for the family. But, if I spent less time on facebook and more time writing, I would be much happier. :)

Thanks for the tip on the water also, and I will definitely check out your blog.

  7. Walter, aren't you celebrating Earth Day a little early. In truth, every day should be earth day. We should always treat her with the respect she deserves. :)

  8. Short and sweet but definitely a good thing to keep in mind! Good luck in your 41 quest. Have you read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? This is your 42nd year... is this the year you find out the meaning of life? :)

  9. Yup. EVERY DAY. (your weekends off is reasonable). I am sure it's easier for me that I write longhand so the computer isn't even present to tempt me.

  10. Thanks B. I'm hoping to find my meaning this year. I think I'm already on my way. Perhaps I should read the book, or at least see the movie again. :)

Hart, I am way too busy on weekends, so it's a necessity. And I commend you on writing long hand, my god that must be a lot of work.
